Always evolving my methods of procrastination and avoiding real work, I’ve recently started playing in the kitchen. These were fairly unplanned creations – sautéed tomato and green peppers on a short stack of whole wheat miniature toast, with garlic and sesame. Was quite tasty, but needs developing to be lighter and more balanced. For dessert, warm caramelized apple with toasted almonds – extremely delicious, would be excellent with ice-cream and fresh vanilla.

What beautiful food, nicely presented. Good to see the cooking coming along – it is healthier, usually much more interesting to eat than prepared stuff, and should also be cheaper in the long run (assuming you don’t develop a truffle obsession!)
I made Italian tonight – fine “slivers” of lean pork and sliced mushrooms, in a sauce made from a tin of La Gina Italian chopped tomatoes with Basil – added a modest splash of red wine, a tablespoon of tomato paste, some fresh oregano, small amount of finely chopped spring onion, and freshly ground black pepper. Served with Barilla bow tie pasta with parmesan to sprinkle on top. Yum!! And good cold weather food.
Think of something you can cook for us all when you are here!
Cheers. Dad
