Lost in the Plot

I thought I’d share some images of my most recent project. Somehow everything I do comes back to building cities! I’ve been playing with building a big 3D city, but with a bit more realism and a kind of ‘game-level’ detail. I’ve been building one block in detail, and slowly adding more and more to it, and then duplicating it across many city blocks to create a city. It creates a kind of generic cityscape, where everything is similar; I’ve avoided anything that will stand out too much when repeated, but the level of detail is impressive when you see the whole city, rubbish on the streets and all. Next to be added are traffic lights, cars, possibly some awnings and basic shopfront geometry, bus stops and benches. And then, people?

I think these experiments are kind of Honours related- my animation will most likely have a city in it, and it’s definitely concerned with industrial and city landscapes and their dominance over the landscape and our experience of nature. To some extent they’re just me wasting time, but I’m trying to get back into Maya and 3D animation, and ‘warm up’ so to speak.
