Lost in the Plot

There’s ann interesting and probably quite accurate (though cynical) view of Valiant and Disney’s prospects in the Feature Animation business over at The Motley Fool. As far as Valiant goes, response seems to be mixed at best. Just another jump-on-the-3D-bandwagon movie? Regardless, there really does seem to be a lot of industry attention directed at their performance in the market, and rightly so considering their considerable reputation and considerably dis-reputable approach so far.

However, it seems as though Disney’s decision to sacrifice quality elements in favor of quick and dirty direct-to-video releases has finally diluted its once untouchable brand of excellence when it came to feature animation.

Also, check out the site of a new California-based educational institute, the Entertainment Art Academy - looks neat, with some really cool courses on the essential artistic skills associated with animation, film, comics and video games. Ah, there’s always more to learn, and the list of places I’d like to study grows longer by the minute…
