I’m Finally pulling things together! I’ve started setting up final shots and rendering some ‘final tests’ ( they could be final but I’ll do them again!). Aah – images in motion! Life springs forth!
I realised I hadn’t yet figured out exactly how to differentiate between the two halves of the city, so I started to work on a brighter and darker shading scheme for each side. It was kind of difficult given the nature of my camera setup and the fact that I’m not really using surface attributes at all, but I found a way of tweaking some settings to make one side brighter.
I also modeled the large-scale city for the aerial shots. Hmm – grueling, since genius me didn’t want the city to be based on a square grid, but instead designed a pattern of irregular blocks. Well, four days since I started and it’s finished – that was fun! (read: sarcasm) After hand placing several hundred individual buildings, it looks pretty damn cool and I’m keen yet again to play with it some rainy day, texture it and render some realistic images. (My rainy day list of things to play around with is getting long!)
